QUALITY
Each board is made to order and will have unique character as each piece of wood is a little different. They are made from Maple and/or Walnut hardwoods, creating an excellent cutting surface for your knives.
Our boards are sanded to a buttery smooth feel, then moisturized with a food safe cutting board oil, and then finished with Mr. and Mrs. Woodshop’s handcrafted “Board Butter” to help prevent bacteria build up and create a wonderfully smooth feel.
There have been numerous studies documenting the safety of wood cutting boards and chopping blocks and their resistance to bacteria growth. Scientists at the University of Wisconsin found that 99.9% of bacteria (E. Coli, Salmonella and Listeria) placed on a wooden chopping boards had died out completely within minutes. This is due to the wood fibers being able to “heal” themselves trapping the bacteria and killing off the bacteria. We take your safety a step farther though. All of our boards receive 2 layers of additional protection by using a Food Grade Mineral Oil and Mr. and Mrs. Woodshop’s handcrafted Board Butter.
The dimensions may vary slightly due to sanding and finishing. Each board features subtle rounded edges, and our Large and X-Large boards feature 3.5″ hand holds on each side for easy transport.
